I think we are embarrassed by how much pain we have been in throughout our entire lives. Because we are embarrassed, we don’t share this truth with one another. But the embarrassment is just that— embarrassment. We need to have mercy on ourselves. We all feel embarrassed. Actually, when we do share our embarrassment, we experience relief. The holding back is what is hard. – This is from Stephen Levines book.

THAT IS SO TRUE GORDI!!!!!! love, misty

Good morning Gordi~ I love Stephen Levine, his books have been very instrumental in assisting me in this life time. I also find his son, Noah, very interesting and his time is Dharma Punx, so in spite of his personal path of rebellion, he became reflective. I agree we absolutely need to be merciful to the self and other. I recall in my two years of American Inner City Voluntary Service, a very hardened appearing person said to me- but ya-- at the end of the day you go home to your great place- well, no I replied-- I actually live in a very crowded apartment with other Volunteers and I sleep in the unfinished cement basement and we eat poorly. The person was very startled, then took another look at me and wanted to buy me a coffee! Life is one long teaching path. We can be open or we can be closed. I smiled at the * alluring personalities* conjured up the Movie business and the young stars who definitely appear to have done that in Western Society. Iris is an Earth Angel and she has given her life to Service. Right now I hope that she is being well taken care of and that there is softness in her life and heart. She is very gentle and somewhat frail in the midst of her strengths. If you stay in Germany or go else where I hope that you are serving her. Our authenticity is the very root of us and sometimes it is more difficult to get to our very naked root truth about ourselves or even to see it in a real way as we have definitely layered over and often do not want to see how we really out picture in our world. I suppose it would startle us and definitely break our illusions of self. I was reading Pema Chodrun last evening in an old Shambhala Sun Magazine ( the only magazine I now buy ) and seeing her and feeling her. Some people are very uniquely called out just as my friend Ishi in India- his whole life in the alternative spiritual path-
The Earth also has all the worker bees in so many forms. What rocks me is that some people starve and some have amassed a fortune in money; yet they do not necessarily share. Some share greatly. Some feel superior in their Religious path and that is so anti spirit to me.
Yet-- we are all here on this small Planet hanging out in space-- so many many avenues! Love to the beautiful Iris and love to you dear friend. misty
